Application and Selection

Application Process:     Submit the following items:

(a) A completed application form
(b) A current transcript (an unofficial copy is O.K.)
(c) A personal statement (no more than 300 words) written on a separate page describing your interest in the University of Idaho REU
(d) Two letters of recommendation by professors of mathematics

Selection Process:

Last year, I received about 75 applicants.  My goal is to assemble a group of 6 students that are academically strong, represent the geographic and school diversity, furthermore, I like to have both genders in the program.  My suggestion to an applicant is to apply to several programs (3-5) after learning about each program, then to rank the programs according to his/her priority.  I interview some of the potential applicants and definitely prefer applicants for whom my program is their first choice.
