[About
the Rush Chairs]
The Rush Chairmen for our house this year are Bryan Huter and Derek
Jansson. They are both currently sophomores and are
willing to help you in any way possible. Please feel free to
give them a call on any matter. If you have any questions
about rush for next year or are interested in snapping for
next semester please e-mail them or drop by. For those of
you that are not familiar with snapping, it is when a
student wants to join a fraternity but did not sign a bid
card during rush or they just wanted to join at a later
time.
[About
Rush This Summer]
Our rush chairmen take time out of their summer to travel
around the nation to visit with students about their
interests in fraternity life. We dedicate ourselves to
recruiting good , strong individuals for the honorable
structure of our house. Love, Truth, and Honor are three
attributes we look for in individuals and use them to shape
strong relationships within the house and out of the house.
[Summer Activities for 2006]
During the summer we will be traveling around and meeting
with interested candidates. During this time, we would like to
meet candidates over lunch or dinner to get to know them
better and answer their questions about Sigma Nu or college
life in general. We also
will be planning activities such as barbecues, sporting
events, a weekend trip to McCall, and outdoor activities.
This will give candidates a chance to get to know other guys
interested in rushing our chapter, as well as several
members of Sigma Nu.
[Brotherhood
Activities]
Delta Omicron has many brotherhoods throughout
the year that are a great chance for all the members to get
together and have some good times. Our chapter stresses the
importance of getting to know everyone in the house.
Brotherhoods are frequent throughout the year and help
everyone in the house become more comfortable with their
surroundings and brothers.
[Academic/Scholarship Activities]
Our chapter is dedicated to academic success during our time
in college. Last semester (spring 2005) our house had the
2nd highest GPA out of all the fraternities at Idaho. Our
organized study hours help new members adjust to the
academic responsibilities of college, and our members are
always willing to give useful advice.
[Philanthropy/Community
Service Projects]
Since 1915, the Delta Omicron chapter of Sigma Nu fraternity
at the University of Idaho has had a rich tradition of
philanthropic actively. Sigma Nu fraternity is considered to
be not only an Honor fraternity, but a Gentleman’s
fraternity as well. This truth carries through with the
Delta Omicron chapter’s dedication to community service.
Each year all new members are required to brainstorm,
create, participate and follow through with a unique
philanthropy of their pledge classes’ choice. Philanthropic
activities are highly regarded within Sigma Nu and this is
evident the moment that a man rushes our fraternity.
Past Pledge Class Philanthropies:
-Built benches for the University of Idaho student/faculty
population (2004)
-Remodeled a children’s daycare (2003)
-Painted Moscow elementary school (2001)
[Social
Events]
We hold many social events during the year to help students
feel comfortable in a college atmosphere. We hold a annual
raft trip at the beginning of the year along with several
other events including our White Rose formal dinner.
