Recently the Sigma Nu house has been involved in a complete remodel process to improve the living standards of its members and keep up to all safety regulations. The process began last year of 2004 and will be completed this winter of 2005. It will receive a full restoration. Alumni have come together and donated around 2 million dollars for this program. Sigma Nu will be the first fraternity on the University of Idaho campus to undergo a restoration process as extreme as this one. Alumni Chris Patano, an architect out of Seattle who has been known for some very prospective projects there, is the designer for our project. All of the Alumni have put forth well needed time and effort to help ensure that future Sigma Nu's have a good place to live and follow in their studies as they are enrolling here at the University of Idaho. Restoration will include the following:
What Will Change
Brand New Kitchen with accommodating dining room (twice as big as before).
Every room and wall has been torn out to allow room for brand new study rooms
Sleeping porches have been redesigned to meet better sleeping arrangements. Freshman porch has a bathroom
The house will now be 100% with safety regulations and code
One room will have an entrance for handicap members or visitors.
There is now a new Upperclassmen Lounge which is used for studying, hanging out, etc.
The house is now equipped with WiFi technology meaning the whole house will have wireless internet
There are three sections to the bathroom, Brand new stalls in one, the second is a washroom for hygiene, third is a shower room.
The lights in the bathroom will be motioned censored for nightly use.
We just want to thank the Alumni for all the help and money they put forth on this project. For any new rushes or snaps that are viewing this page, it just goes to show how strong the bonds are between our members and alumni. We will now have a better environment to work together in and continue Sigma Nu's strong tradition at the University of Idaho. Below are some pictures of the house as it is undergoing the reconstruction. If you have any questions about the house project and/or want more information please e-mail me at jans1253@uidaho.edu.
