Students can enter the program in one of two ways:

1) by applying and being admitted simultaneously to each institution,

2) by applying to one of the institutions within one year of beginning a doctoral program at the other institution.

In either case, please follow the procedures for application to each institution as indicated on their respective web sites.  In addition, include with your application a copy of the Joint Doctoral Program Application Cover Sheet (see below). Students are admitted to both institutions simultaneously and are considered joint doctoral students. The admission process is selective. Applicants must have a master’s degree from a recognized institution and file a completed application form with the required documentation. English is the program language. A TOEFL minimum score of 550 is required for students from non-English speaking countries. A knowledge of Spanish is highly desired.

Admission
  • Students are admitted either by late August or early January. Late August is preferred since this is the start of the academic year at the University of Idaho, where students normally begin their coursework.
Application Fee
  • An application fee of $60 (U.S.) must be included with application packet.
Application Cover Sheet
  • Download Joint Doctoral Program Application Cover Sheet here or
