scholarships
The Department of Art & Design offers a number of scholarships for both undergraduates and graduate students who academically and artistically. Scholarship applications are made available in January with completed applications due in February. Awards vary and are granted for the following academic year. A portfolio is required for each completed application.
Ceramics Scholarship
For sophomore, junior or senior art majors currently enrolled at the University of Idaho. Two or more completed UI semesters in ceramics required. Emphasis is on ceramics. Based on expertise and talent.
Mary Kirkwood Scholarship
For junior, senior, or graduate art and design majors currently enrolled at the University of Idaho. This award is based on demonstrated talent.
Liberace Foundation Scholarship
For sophomore, junior or senior or graduate art, art education, ceramics, or painting art and design majors currently enrolled at the University of Idaho. Based on demonstrated talent.
“Since 1976, The Liberace Foundation for the Performing and Creative Arts has awarded more than 4.5 million dollars in scholarship grants to over 100 universities, schools and organizations.”

James H. Marshall Scholarship
For UI undergraduate or graduate art and design majors with a high GPA and talent. Preference to graduates from smaller Idaho high schools.
Nora Southon Tisdale Scholarship
For sophomore, junior, senior or graduate art and design majors currently enrolled at the University of Idaho. Based on demonstrated talent.
Arnold Westerlund Memorial Scholarship
For UI undergraduate and graduate art majors. Preference to students pursuing an emphasis in printmaking.
Marie Haasch Whitesel Scholarship
For undergraduate or graduate art and design majors currently enrolled at the University of Idaho. This award is based on demonstrated talent. Portfolio required.
Art & Design Department Scholarship
Student must be a full-time, current B.F.A, B.A., B.S. Art Education, or M.F.A. department major, demonstrate outstanding talent, have a minimum 2.5 GPA (4.0 scale), have financial need.
