Art & Design Scholarships and Endowments - Support the Future
Scholarship and endowment contributions received by the Department of Art & Design are not merely gifts, but investments in the quality of our programs and future of our students. They create a legacy that guarantees the accessibility of a quality education, especially to students who might not otherwise be able to afford the cost of today's college education.

Through continued support from our donors, the Department of Art & Design provides scholarships to several qualified students every year. Our scholarships are awarded through a competitive application process and are based on need and/or merit as designated by the scholarship criteria. In most cases, donors establish the scholarship criteria designation and are encouraged to participate in the award process and to get to know the students awarded the scholarships. Donors may also name the scholarship in their own honor or in the memory of a loved one.

The George Roberts Speakers Endowment helps us bring high-quality artists and designers to our campus each year, thus insuring that our students gain direct and meaningful experience with artists and designers activity engaged in their professions.

The George Wray Visiting Artists Endowment will help bring artists and designers to the UI to offer new courses and interact with students and faculty for an extended period of time.

The students, faculty, and staff of the department are thankful for the generosity of our scholarship and endowment donors. Thank you for investing in the future.

About our scholarship and endowment program.

Typically, scholarships are in the form of endowed scholarships or annually funded scholarships.

• Endowed Scholarships - Gifts in larger amounts, sometimes made over a five-year period can establish a named endowed scholarship. The original gift is permanently invested, and only the interest income is awarded in the form of scholarships each year.
• Annual Scholarships - These scholarships are awarded on the basis of contributions received each year. Gifts of any size are welcomed. Because annual gifts are not endowed, the support is immediately available to students.
• Create your own legacy - Your own scholarship fund.

Use the following steps:

1. Click on the above link.
2. Select the “College of Art & Architecture” in the first drop box.
3. On the next screen, click on “Select an area or specific fund” and choose either “Art & Design Scholarships”, or, “Department of Art & Design”. If neither of these choices seem appropriate, select, “Other (select to specify)”
