Requirements for the degree are stringent, and include intense involvement in studio work in the senior year, closely monitored by all faculty members, culminating in the development of a portfolio and written statement in support of a professional exhibition. Because the BFA degree is a professional degree, often preparatory to pursuit of a Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) degree, students must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA.
